Stripes on Stripes

This blazer dress is another awesome find from Scarlet. I ordered a size too big, so threw on this belt to try and give me a little bit of a waist, but am happy how it all turned out. I feel like the belt adds another fun element to the outfit, along with the hat. I love accessories, but so often am forgetting them. I'm hoping its a talent that will come with time.

I love that the newsboy cap trend is still going strong because I can't get enough. Emily was actually the one who encouraged me to keep the hat on with the outfit, I wasn't sure about the different variation of stripes, but like she said, "it's what makes it cool", and I believe her. I think mixing prints, or patterns is a really neat way to do something different, and if you do it right, it can turn out be super chic. (Note: I am still trying to figure out how to do it right.) But, I do know there is right and a wrong way to go about it. Like for one, I always try to stay in the same color family. I think it still lets the outfit flow, and doesn't get too overwhelming. There are definitely exceptions though and I have seen plenty of people pull it off.

Finally, lets discuss these booties. AH! I have wanted red leather boots for so long. My Stuart Weitzman velvet Clinger boots are some of my favorite I own. I have been eyeing the same exact shoe, just in the brighter red. Shopbop did their annual big sale a few weeks back, and they had them on sale! I almost died. And I got them in white, too 😉 Thats the bad thing about sales... I somehow end up spending more, but justifying it because they were on sale? And I actually got both for the price of what one original pair would be... so I don't feel that bad.

Favorite Sweater

I honestly can't get enough of this sweater. I bought a small and now have it in three colors (strongly contemplating getting it in turquoise). The fit is so perfect because it can be worn by itself with the best oversize fit, that it still somehow, fitted at the same time?! It also looks great with jeans or leather pants underneath. I also am such a huge fan of this neckline. It's unique and much more fun than a typical, expected turtleneck.

These are such great boots by Stuart Weitzman. He is my go-to for all fall/winter footwear and can do no wrong in my mind. This over-the-knee pair are super comfortable and flattering. I have worn them 9 months pregnant and felt that they were super slimming. I have also worn them walking around New York, straight from the box, without even having to break them in. They are instantly comfortable.

I have been in the process of transferring my domain name and hosting account and that has been such a headache. My site has been going up and down, my email isn't working, and I lost the text to my last post, but hopefully we are in the homestretch now. I never, ever want to go thru this again. We are headed to go visit some family today- I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday and thanks for stopping by! XO

Sheer Floral Friday

Not going to lie, I had a hard time figuring out how to style this sheer top. I first started off with a velvet crop top under it, and just felt like I wanted it to be more and less all at the same time. More layering, less trendy, more interesting.. something. I threw this white button down under it and felt like it put a more classic and tailored spin on it.

I have been living in these Levi's and can't get over how affordable they are. They are under $100 and I love them just as much as my jeans that cost three times that. It kind if put in prospective that you don't need to spend a ton on denim to get a great fit or style. I finished the look off with these classic white accessories because I am a huge believer white is a year round color.

I have more family coming in town tonight and I am so excited to take them around Dallas on this beautiful weekend. The weather is amazing right now and all we want to do is hang out outside. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Friday!

Shoulder Year Round

A great off the shoulder top doesn't have to be just in your summer rotation. While it can be the finishing touch on an outfit to show off your tan, it can also be dressed up or down with your favorite fall staples to make them functional year round. This top is a thicker material, which actually makes it even more ideal for the cooler temps and I paired it with these Grlfrnd denim that are in my top 3 current rotation. This particular pair is so soft, just the right amount of stretch and the perfect distressing. What really makes this outfit feel a little more fall are my velvet booties. These are some of my most favorite shoes I own, and am so happy I was able to pull them back out.

My parents have been in town this weekend and we have had a lot of fun. We went to some really great restaurants and did some shopping on Saturday. It's always great to see them and for them to see how quickly Stella is growing. Have a great Sunday!

Fall Staples

I am obsessed with this sweater. Totally and completely obsessed.  It is so soft and the blush color goes with so much. One of my favorite online and in-store shops is Scarlet, you can shop it here: scarletclothing.com. Their store front is in my home town and they have always had the cutest clothes. A friend of mine at the store texted me this sweater and said it was the absolute softest, and she was in no way exaggerating. I am going to have to get in other colors ASAP.  I am starting to love this brand, English Factory, because they make really cute products that are made with great quality and still affordable. My Grlfrnd denim is also from Scarlet. These are my new favorite pair. They give great stretch, and I love the high-rise waist along with the perfect amount of distress. I hadn't seen this style before, so had to scoop them up when I ordered this sweater. I love how the blush tone goes the light wash of this denim. If you guys find something you like on their online site, use my code, MSscarletsquad to get 15% off your order! Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Chain Detailed Sweatshirt

I love an all black look so much. It's easy and usually without fail. Something I always look for when doing a look like this is adding a little bit of detailing so its not so blasé. The chain detailing on this sweater is so cool and almost gives off a little bit of an urban cowgirl feel. I wanted to carry that through into the belt to keep the look flowing, but loved the idea of these simple, but sleek pumps to finish of the look. Which, are my first designer shoes I have bought. James and I split them for my 23rd birthday.

We are headed back home today after a very long Saturday. Stella has her first stomach bug and it was absolutely awful. She woke up throwing up in the middle of the night and James and I felt so helpless. It scared her and just broke our hearts. She wasn't running a temp, so hopefully it was a quick bug that ran its course. We are thankful she is feeling better and luckily our Sunday went much more smoothly.

Thank you all for stopping by!

Seeing Red

Not only is red my favorite color, but I think it is the color of power and strength. Anytime I am wearing it, I always feel a little more bold. I really like pairing a strong blouse like this with casual boyfriend jeans, because I feel like it's an unexpected, but working pair. I have been playing around with the idea of selling this Valentino bag, but had to carry it with this outfit because I loved that it matched the shirt perfectly. It's like they were made for each other. Also, these Louboutin's are the most comfortable ones I own. If you are wanting to invest, but not sure which it go with, my advice is to do the Pigalle's in a 100mm. I never have any issues wearing them and they go with everything in my closet.

Stella and I are leaving for the ranch tomorrow morning to meet James and his dad. We are going to stay until Monday and my goal is to ride horses on Sunday. I am really trying to follow through with spending more time there. We truly are just our happiest at the ranch and thats all I could ever ask for.

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Mom Jeans

Mom jeans are a tricky thing that I am not sure if I have yet to figure out. Regardless, I love the look and always have a lot of fun styling around them. Most of the time, I will go really light and simple up top, with a tucked in tee or a crop top in an effort to try and find a balance with all the denim and the long zipper. This time around, though, I went with this off the shoulder, Storets top. I really love pairing lighter color tops with light denim and vice versa. I felt like they paired well together and didn't feel like it was too much. I finished the look with my sparkly Louboutin's that just give any outfit so much life. Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome rest of your week!

Navy Velvet Pants

When my friend, Lauren, from Forty Five Ten posted these pants on her Instagram account, laurenstyle_tthxfft, I knew I had to have them. I love that they are velvet and navy; so on trend for fall, but beyond comfortable and easy to style. I am envisioning them with a white button down next and my tan, big Celine bag. I wanted to pair it first with this fun, one shoulder, plaid blouse from Shopbop. It's easy to box yourself off with shirts like this; thinking that because they are one shoulder, or strapless, etc., they are only appropriate for summer. I really love to wear tops like this year round, and when it gets cool enough, I layer with another top under, or a jacket. I would love this shirt just as much, if not more, with a cool long sleeve white shirt under it. When you're switching out your tops for your sweaters this year, make an effort to step outside your comfort zone and try new ways to wear your current closet, just in different temps. Layers almost always add something to an outfit, and not only will it step your closet up a big ole' notch, it'll also save you pretty penny doing a lot of unnecessary seasonal shopping. (But, lets be honest, is any shopping every "unnecessary?" you get my drift here..."
